PEST MANAGEMENT: (Weeds, Insects, Diseases)

There is an ever increasing awareness and concern about the use of pesticides and their effects on our health and the environment. We share these concerns, and take every effort to reduce pesticide use while still maintaining beautiful, healthy turf. We do this through Integrated Pest Management (IPM). IPM is a method used to control pests in an environmentally responsible manner. IPM combines different techniques to prevent unacceptable pest damage. It involves the use of cultural, biological and chemical controls. Our applicators have been trained in the proper use of pesticides, and are state licensed to apply lawn chemicals. This ensures that all applications are done responsibly and judiciously.

FERTILIZATION:

We use only professional grade products for guaranteed, consistent results. And, our fertility programs are site-specific; based on soil tests. Why test soil? While different lawns might have very similar "requirements", the conditions of your soil might be dramatically different than that of your neighbors. By testing your soil, we can define any nutrient deficiencies that might exist. We can then develop a fertility program that is specific to your lawn. In this way we can be certain that your lawn receives the nutrition it needs, without over applying things it doesn’t.

Why is this important? Not only is the over-application of lawn fertilizers a waste of your money, but also leads to lush, weak, unhealthy growth that is susceptible to disease and insect infestation. Excess growth also depletes the turfgrass’ carbohydrate reserves. This leaves your lawn vulnerable to stress and less able to recover from periods of summer heat and winter damage.

Excess fertilizer application has also become the focus of much environmental concern. Nitrogen and phosphorous, applied in amounts exceeding the turfs ability to utilize them, often find their way into our water supplies. This can lead to algae blooms, fish kills, and contaminated drinking water. By testing soils, and fertilizing accordingly, we are playing a role in the protection of our natural resources!
